What are the roles and responsibilities of the permit holder and the responsible person for a bonfire permit?

  • The permit holder and the responsible person must both be present during the bonfire.

  • The permit holder must notify the fire chief and the police at least 24 hours in advance before lighting the bonfire. In most cases, it is sufficient to do this via email.

  • The responsible person or their representative must be present during the reception of materials for the bonfire.

  • The responsible person must also ensure the cleanup of the bonfire site on the first working day after the bonfire has burned out and no later than the second day after lighting the bonfire.

  • Extreme caution must be exercised during the bonfire to avoid causing unnecessary disturbance or inconvenience.

The fire department's fire safety inspection oversees bonfires, each within its own jurisdiction.
