I'm gonna burn withered grass, do I need a permit?

Yes, owners and holders of farms on agricultural estates may apply for a license to burn their withered grass between 1 April and 1 May each year.

Otherwise, it is prohibited.

The permit can be applied for from 1 March and the application is processed no later than 10 days after it is received.

No fire may be burned where the public may be in danger or damaged:

  • natural sites,

  • birdlife,

  • moss,

  • heather or tree roots,

  • forest, structures.
