The Social Insurance Administration, the Welfare Department, the Directorate of Labour and the Ministry of Social Affairs are working together on a study of disability pensions for women and men aged 50 to 66.
The Ombudsman of the Icelandic Parliament has published his opinion in the case 11924/2022 on the authorization of TR to reduce disability pensions due to disability payments from NAV (the Norwegian labour and welfare institution) in 2019.

We are pleased to announce that the potential payments under the new disability and rehabilitation payments scheme can now be calculated from September 1st 2025.

Parents of chronically ill or seriously disabled children who received parental allowances in December have received December allowance.
December allowance has been paid to those who receive payments for spouses and caregivers. Those who received payments for spouses and caregivers in 2024 are entitled to the allowance.

A total of 28,715 individuals will receive a single payment this afternoon when the Social Insurance Administration distributes a single payment to elderly pensioners, incapacity and rehabilitation pensioners.
