Client Ombudsman
The Ombudsman works to improve the practices in the interests of our clients, with the guiding principle being that equality is respected in all our work and the handling of cases is in accordance with the law and high quality administrative practices.
The Ombudsman provides guidance on the handling of cases with the Social Insurance Administration and assists those who feel that they have not received material discussion or resolutions in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.
In the event of need, the Ombudsman will advise on reinstatement and appeals.
In a message to the Ombudsman, it must state:
A description of the facts
What improvements or changes are requested regarding the handling or resolution of the case
Messages must be sent in writing to umbodsmadur@tr.is
It is worth noting that the Ombudsman does not generally hear cases if:
It is being processed within the Social Insurance Administration
It is being processed by the Welfare Committee, the Ombudsman or the courts and no conclusion is available
It has been more than two years since the government’s decision
