What does a government agency need to do?

  • Submit an application to Digital Iceland with information about a technical contact

  • Connect their document library to the X-Road

  • An agency is responsible for publishing and hosting data and therefore needs to ensure a secure operational environment

  • Content in a digital mailbox is considered published when it becomes available in the recipient's digital mailbox

"Hnipp" - Notifcations

The Digital mailbox uses common notification framework to notify recipients either by email or by a push notification to the Ísland.is app that a new document is waiting for them in their mailbox.

Recipients can opt out in the settings in the top right corner of My pages/Digital mailbox. Contact is made via email/push:

  • IF the document provider (sender) wishes

  • AND recipient has not opted out of the notification.

The role of Digital Iceland

  • Supports document distribution connections and programming where needed

  • Operates the mailbox but does not store any data
