How do legal guardians manage the assets of minors?

The assets of the minor must be securely preserved and invested in the best possible manner at all times. The guardian is required to keep the minor's funds separate from their own funds.

If the value of the minor's assets exceeds ISK 1,206,710, they must be preserved and invested in consultation with the District Commissioner.

The guardian must obtain the District Commissioner's approval for any major or unusual transactions involving the minor's funds. The request must be submitted on the designated form.

Further information about guardians can be found here.
