An individual cannot submit a request for involuntary commitment. The request for involuntary commitment is submitted by the social services of the municipality, but recommendations for involuntary commitment can come from the individual themselves, a relative, or others. A medical certificate and the doctor's assessment that involuntary commitment is indispensable are required.
