What does a government agency have to do?

The government agency starts its digital journey by applying for collaboration with Ísland.is Digital Iceland receives the application and assesses whether the agency can simply implement the application or whether a team needs to be formed to implement the application in digital manner.

Digital Iceland emphasises an integrated approach to all analytical work. To move an application into the application system, the service is examined, the purpose of the process defined, access to data accessed and whether the flow can be simplified for the user.

The process step by step

  1. The government agency carries out an initial analysis of the most relevant application processes for the agency and the users.

  2. The agency prepares a project proposal (a product manager at Digital Iceland can assist) and submits it through a collaborative application.

  3. The project is reviewed by Digital Iceland.

  4. If the project is approved, a project group is formed, comprising a representative and a team from Digital Iceland, together with the owner of the process and experts at the government agency.

  5. The process is then taken into a design sprint where the process is dissected, the data process mapped and a prototype presented to the group.

  6. The application is then installed in the application system and published on Island.is.

  7. Promotional and marketing material prepared and opened for applications.
