A 100% position as a customer service representative is open for application at Sjónstöðin – the Service and Knowledge Center for the blind, visually impaired, and individuals with combined vision and hearing impairment

A course is being planned for blind and visually impaired individuals on the use, care, and training of guide dogs, which is a prerequisite for maintaining an active application for a guide dog.

The board of the Þórsteinssjóður is currently calling for applications for grants from the fund. The purpose of the fund is firstly to support blind and visually impaired students to study at the University of Iceland. Secondly, the objective of the fund is to promote research that can increase knowledge of the lives and conditions of blind and visually impaired individuals, especially in social and cognitive sciences.

The White Cane Safety Day is held every year on 15 October. The purpose of the day is to raise awareness of the White Cane and the issues of interest to blind and visually impaired people.

The World Sight Day 2024 is held on October 10th. The day is intended to raise public awareness all over the world about blindness and visual impairment, vision loss and vision protection.

The Blind community, Sjónstöðin, the Sports Association for the Disabled and Reykjadalur, under the guidance of the University of Reykjavík, will hold skills camps for children and young people aged 9 to 25 from 11 to 13 October.

On Wednesday 8 May, a workshop was held at the Television Centre on the Icelandic alphabetical lego chip.
