Digital steps

Digital Iceland first granted recognition to institutions for the 9 Digital Steps in 2022. A description for each of the Digital Steps can be found below. The assessment period for the Digital Steps is from October to September each year and recognition is given to public entities at the Tengjum ríkið conference which is held anually every autumn. The Digital Steps serve as an incentive recognition for public entities, but all 9 steps do not apply to the services of all public entities.

The Digital Steps contribute to the utilization of investment and the objectives of the Ministry by recognizing public entities that use open and shared tools developed by Digital Iceland.

  • Public entities that have taken all 9 steps are officially suffixed as "digital" public entities.

  • Public entities starting their journey will receive a sign showing their progress towards implementing the 9 digital steps.

  • In the drop-down window below, you can find a list of public entities and the digital services that they offer their customers.

  • The digital steps will develop in the coming years in line with the development and strategy of Icelandic digital public service.
