Seed production
The seed processing station in Gunnarsholt has been responsible for the cultivation and processing of seeds for revegetation since 1988. Two species are in production, lyme grass and red fescue.
Seed collection takes place from late summer to autumn
Red fescue is cultivated in fields in Gunnarsholt, while lyme grass is collected from coastal areas in southern Iceland.
The seed is dried, cleaned, and quality tested according to international standards.
The laboratory is responsible for quality control and also provides services to seed sellers with germination and purity tests.
