On Thursday, February 27th, Minister of Environment, Energy, and Climate Change Jóhann Páll Jóhannsson visited Land and Forest Iceland in Gunnarsholt, accompanied by his staff. Parliamentary members also toured the facility during their constituency week.

Icelandic timber offers significant potential for diverse product development. Global timber demand is increasing, and Icelandic forests will yield substantially more timber in the coming years. This is a key finding from a report commissioned by the South Iceland Forest Owners' Association, summarising initial assessments of Icelandic forest resource utilisation.

The annual Icelandic Forestry Conference will take place at Hotel Hallormsstaður on 26 and 27 March. The deadline for registration is 15 March. The conference can still submit posters.

Certification of wetlands projects in sight

A draft methodology for certification of quality carbon units for wetlands recovery has now been published in the consultation portal of the International Carbon Registry (ICR). Land and forests are advertising summer jobs

Land and Forest Iceland is recruiting research assistants for summer fieldwork, encompassing ecological monitoring and research in drylands, wetlands, and forests to support Iceland's climate accounting. We also require summer personnel for fencing projects in Northeast Iceland.
