Seeking advisors for West and East Iceland

Land and Forest Iceland seeks to fill two consultant positions, one in West Iceland and one in East Iceland. The application deadline is March 14.


Land and Forest Iceland's West Iceland operations are based in Hvammur Skorradal and Hvanneyri, while its East Iceland operations are located in Egilsstaðir and Hallormsstaður.
The Institute's core function is providing comprehensive land use consultation. While a diverse project portfolio exists in East Iceland, the primary emphasis is on enhancing forestry advisory services in West Iceland.
Core responsibilities encompass
Consulting, planning, data acquisition and recording.
Project monitoring within forestry and land reclamation including vegetation and soil condition monitoring.
Participation in annual monitoring programs.
Performance assessment of forestry and land reclamation initiatives.
Educating and advising farmers, other land users, local authorities, businesses, schools, and the general public.
Contributions to other Land and Forest Iceland projects.
Skills requirements
BSc degree in natural sciences with emphasis on forestry, land use, life sciences or environmental sciences
Continuous experience with forestry and/or land reclamation
Positiveness and competence in human interaction
Organisation, initiative and autonomy in practice
Skills in delivering information in speech and writing in Icelandic and English
Skills in Office applications
Driving rights in a passenger car
Skills in using land information systems are desirable
Experience in project management, advisory and planning is desirable
Required qualifications
A Bachelor of Science degree in a natural science field, with a focus on forestry, land use, life sciences, or environmental science.
Substantial experience in forestry and/or land reclamation is essential.
The candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and a proactive work ethic.
Proven organisational abilities, initiative, and the capacity for independent work are required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Icelandic and English are mandatory.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is also required.
A valid driver's license is necessary.
Experience with land information systems and a background in project management, consulting, and planning are highly desirable.
