Loftbrú covers the Westfjords, parts of the North-West, North-East, East-Iceland, Hornafjörður and the Westman Islands. The area, commonly referred to as the Loftbrú area, is delimited by postal codes. In total, Loftbrú's discounted rates apply to over 60,000 residents in the Loftbrú area.
Children who are domiciled within the Loftbrú area with a guardian and/or parent are entitled to Loftbrú.
The discount terms are available to all those who use central services and entertainment in the Greater Reykjavík Area and to visit relatives and friends. The goal of the project is to equalize the opportunities available to residents and strengthen the country's settlements by making domestic flights a more affordable transportation option. Loftbrú is intended for people traveling to the capital on private business and not for business trips or traditional work trips.
After a change in registered legal domicile, it may take up to 30 days for the right to Loftbrú to become active.
