Coastal fishing permit

It is possible to request a cancellation of a coastal fishing permit issued to a fishing vessel in order to commence other fishing operations before the end of the coastal fishing season.

• A request must be sent to the Directorate of Fisheries by email

  fiskistofa@fiskistofa.is no later than the 20th day of the previous month, in which the fishing boat will commence commercial fishing under another permit which can not be issues earlier than the 1st of that month.

• The general permit previously held on the vessel with the coastal fishing permit is activated free of charge.

• If a fishing vessel's coastal fishing permit has been cancelled, that fishing vessel cannot be re-authorized to fish in the coastal fishing season.
