Catch Quota

Up to 50% of the allocated quota may be transferred between ships.

Operators can transfer their quota between ships or give others authority to transfer it in the electronic transfer system of the Directorate of Fisheries

If it is not possible to use the electronic system, a signed request may be sent to the Directorate of Fisheries via e-mail to millifaerslur@fiskistofa.is, and the matter will be resolved as soon as possible.

The following transfers can only be requested by e-mail:

• Transfer with equal exchange of quota between ships with general fishing permits and hook-and-line fishing permit.

• Transfer that exceeds 50% limit due to changes in shipping fleet or due to vessel failure.

Cost

• Entries entered in the electronic transfer system of the Directorate of Fisheries cost ISK 380 kr.

• Entries sent to the Directorate of Fisheries and their handling cost ISK 5,100. 

Quota Share

The transfer of quota share is allowed between vessels operating in the same system, general system and hook-and-line system. The Directorate of Fisheries carries out the transfer of quota shares.

• The request must be signed by appropriate parties of the company in accordance with the registration at Creditinfo.

• A new mortgage certificate shall accompany the request along wit notarized declaration of permission for the transfer of the quota share from the mortgagee of the vessel being transferred.
