New disability pensions from September 1st to be published in payment plans
9th April 2025
The new disability pension scheme will take effect on September 1st 2025. As part of the implementation of the new system, payments for those individuals who have a valid disability assessment will be calculated on August 31st 2025 and will appear in the new payment plan for 2025. New payment plans for approximately 19,000 individuals have been published on My pages of TR. The vast majority of the group will receive higher payments.

Permanent right to disability pension
TR has informed the customers in question about the new payment plan and that they will receive permanent rights to disability pension in the new system. This means that customers no longer need to obtain regular certificates and apply for renewal of disability assessment, which will ease considerable pressure on both the customers of TR and the healthcare system.
New disability pensions
The new system is simpler with fewer payment categories than the current system. From 1 September, the payment categories disability pension, old-age supplement and home allowance will be added together, if applicable, and then 45% of the income above the free income limit will be deducted from that amount. Therefore, only one total is published in the payment plan.
Big milestone
The publication of new payment categories in payment plans is a major milestone in the implementation of the new system this autumn, as customers can now see payment amounts starting from 1 September.
TR will work in the coming weeks to move all individuals with disability assessments valid on 31 August 2025 and beyond into the new system and publish a new payment plan for them, but this project will be worked out in several steps. The aim is to finish this project no later than 15 May.
