Amendments to the invalidity pension system approved by parliament

The bill by the Minister of Social Affairs, Guðmundur Ingi Guðbrandsson, on changes to the disability and rehabilitation pension system was approved by parliament on 22 June. The new system will take effect on 1 September 2025.
In a report on the Government Offices website, the changes include “improved services, important incentives for employment and improved conditions through a better and simpler payment system. Support for people during their rehabilitation is increased, cooperation between service providers is established and the emphasis is on preventing people from falling between schemes.”
