Annual Quality Audit of SAk

Three representatives from the international accreditation company Det Norske Veritas (DNV-GL) are spending three and a half days this week at SAk to audit the operations in accordance with DNV and ISO9001 standards. A large number of SAk staff are involved in the project, as the certification auditors conduct their work across various parts of the institution.
The first meeting of the quality audit was held this morning, where the executive management, along with SAk's liaisons and auditors, commenced their work.
"The goal of quality certification at SAk is to ensure the highest possible quality in all hospital services, maintain standardized and efficient procedures, and highlight opportunities for further development and improvement. Quality certification is essential to ensure continuous progress, implement innovations in healthcare, and comply with international requirements for safety and performance. This process better equips the hospital to provide the best possible service to the community," says Hildigunnur Svavarsdóttir, CEO of SAk.
SAk first received DNV HealthCare certification in 2015 and ISO9001 certification in 2019, becoming the first Icelandic healthcare institution to achieve this.
