The Directorate of Fisheries participates in teaching at GRÓ Fisheries Training Programme

This week, the Directorate of Fisheries took part in teaching within the framework of the Fisheries Training Programme (FTP) at GRÓ – The Centre for Capacity Development under the auspices of UNESCO.
The programme is designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of individuals from developing countries in the sustainable utilization of marine and freshwater resources. The teaching is led by the University of Akureyri while employees of the Directorate of Fisheries gave presentations about Iceland's fisheries management system, its implementation and operations.
GRÓ FTP is part of Iceland’s international development cooperation, aiming to promote sustainable fisheries and improved resource management. This time the participants came from Kenya, Malawi, Uganda and Tanzania.
The Directorate of Fisheries emphasizes transparency in fisheries management and the use of best practices to ensure a balance between the utilization and conservation of marine resources. Through its participation in this international collaboration, the Directorate strengthens its connections with professionals worldwide and contributes to building the capacity of other nations for sustainable resource management.
