Summer job in Surveillance Division and data collection

The Directorate of Fisheries is looking for two reliable and energetic individuals to work in maritime surveillance this summer.

The position involves only projects at sea and is particularly suitable for those with experience in seafaring and are willing to work in challenging and diverse conditions. This is a temporary position from June to the end of August 2025.
The employment rate is 100% with office in Akureyri and the salary is according to the current collective agreement between the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs and Sameyki.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Participation in surveillance trips of fishing vessels in the Icelandic economic jurisdiction.
Data recording, length measurements and collecting of otoliths.
Coordination with catch logbook entries and assessment of conditions to propose closures of fishing areas.
Other occasional projects in the field of maritime surveillance
Qualification requirements
Maritime experience is a requirement
Experience working on board processing vessels is an advantage.
Good skills in recording and handling of data.
Good Icelandic skills is an advantage.
Good physical and mental health; ability to work on longer sea voyages.
Accuracy, independence and professionalism.
Clean criminal record.
