The position involves only projects at sea and is particularly suitable for those with experience in seafaring and are willing to work in challenging and diverse conditions. This is a temporary position from June to the end of August 2025.

The employment rate is 100% with office in Akureyri and the salary is according to the current collective agreement between the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs and Sameyki.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Participation in surveillance trips of fishing vessels in the Icelandic economic jurisdiction.

• Data recording, length measurements and collecting of otoliths.

• Coordination with catch logbook entries and assessment of conditions to propose closures of fishing areas.

• Other occasional projects in the field of maritime surveillance

Qualification requirements

• Maritime experience is a requirement

• Experience working on board processing vessels is an advantage.

• Good skills in recording and handling of data.

• Good Icelandic skills is an advantage.

• Good physical and mental health; ability to work on longer sea voyages.

• Accuracy, independence and professionalism.

• Clean criminal record.
