The company's response plan was activated and nets were placed around the fish farm that had the hole. Inspector form the Directorate of Fisheries took part in visiting the nets on Monday, August 21nd. No fish were caught in the nets.

Subsequently, monitoring was carried out, i.a. with a drone and fish were seen in Ósá in Patreksfjörður on Tuesday, August 22nd. The Directorate of Fisheries warned the relevant landowners and ordered that Arctic Seafarm should set nets in the sea near the mouth of the river of Ósá on August 23rd, and nets were also set in Ósá itself. Inspector from the Directorate of Fisheries was involved in laying the nets. Four salmon were caught in the nets, all of which had farming characteristics. The fish will be handed over to the Marine & Freshwater Research Institute for genetic analysis and further research today.

Directorate of Fisheries has recommended that more nets be laid and that net fishing will continue to be tried in the sea in Patreksfjörður this weekend. Directorate of Fisheries closely monitors the fishing and will reassess the need for action if the occasion arises.
