Two vessels were suspended for one week and five vessels were suspended for two weeks. Two major violations resulted in longer suspension of fishing permits for the vessels involved, one for four weeks and the other for eight weeks. Those cases were also reported to the police.

In all cases, inspectors of the Directorate of Fisheries monitored the fishing vessels with the use of drones. The number of discarding cases has increased significantly after drones were put into use by the Directorate back in 2021.

The Directorate of Fisheries publishes all its administrative decisions on the suspension of fishing permits according to Act No. 36/1992. The publication promotes transparency in the work of the Directorate as well as predictability for those working in the industry and increases the preventive effect of the Directorate’s administrative decisions.
