Does your team qualify for the Icelandic national team for software development?
7th March 2025
Digital Iceland in collaboration with the Financial Management Authority calls for participation in Iceland’s largest software project. This is the third time that Digital Iceland has taken this approach in its procurement, setting up a national team of software professionals.

Digital Iceland's objective is to help public institutions improve digital services by making the service more accessible, simple, and faster.
The current framework agreement includes 20 teams from 14 companies that work on digitalisation of the public sector. The framework agreement is widely viewed abroad, as the project is highly prized both in Iceland and globally. The methodology is a model for public procurement, especially supporting technological development and innovation and building a bridge between the private and public sectors. As a sign of the project’s success, Iceland has shot up to 5th place worldwide in just a few years looking at digital public services. Digitalisation of public services has also been charted as one of the government’s biggest optimization opportunities, at the same time improving services and having a positive environmental impact.
This time, two types of teams are called for. One is a Web Development Team and the other is a Cross Functional Team. The aim is to contract with 20 teams as in the current contract. Teams are assigned tasks according to the contract based on the total score of the tender.
Teams that meet the requirements of the tender offer will have the opportunity to complete a project that will be presented to the selection committee.
The call for tenders is available on the website of EU Tenders and the Icelandic official website for public tenders.
All further information on the tenders is provided by the Financial Management Authority and inquiries shall be received through the tender system.
Further information on the project can be found on the Digital Iceland website.
