What does the protection of an eider duck nesting area entail?
The protection of an eider duck nesting area is valid from April 15th to July 14th each year. The protection entails that all shooting is prohibited within 2 km of the protected nesting area, unless absolutely necessary. During the same period, it is not allowed to set nets in the sea within 250 m of the protected nesting area without the owner's permission. Additionally, the protection means that within the protected areas, all unauthorized traffic and disturbance are prohibited, as well as unnecessary noise caused by people and machines, unless with the owner's permission. Protected eider duck nesting areas must be marked conspicuously where possible. This does not apply to uninhabited islands and islets.
