A provisional licence is valid for 3 years, at which time fewer points are needed to lose the licence. Applications may be made for a full licence after 1 year on a provisional licence if the following conditions are in place. That the driver has completed Driving School 3 and a driving evaluation. A driver may not have received a point due to a traffic violation or been deprived of his driving licence for the past 12 months in order to complete a driving assessment by a driving instructor. If a provisional certificate has expired, a new provisional certificate may be applied for.
