Codes of conduct can be useful to help companies comply with the Data Protection Act. They can address issues such as:

  • fair and transparent processing,

  • the legal interests of the guarantor in a given context,

  • collection of personal data,

  • the use of pseudo-identities in the processing of personal data,

  • disclosure to the public and to individuals registered,

  • how individuals are enabled to exercise their rights under the data protection legislation;

  • information to children and the protection afforded to them, including how to obtain the consent of the guardian when necessary;

  • technical and strategic measures to ensure the legality of processing, including inherent and default data protection and security measures.

  • notifications of security breaches in the processing of personal data,

  • the transfer of personal data to third countries or international organisations;

  • non-judicial procedures and other dispute resolution procedures to resolve disputes regarding processing between controllers and registered individuals, without prejudice to the rights of the registered parties under Articles 77 and 79 of the PPI.
