Trailers - application for BE rights

• A Category BE license grants the right to drive a Category B vehicle with a trailer/semi-trailer with a total weight of up to 3,500 kg.

• You should check the registration certificate of each vehicle to see what weight the vehicle is allowed to tow.

• Always follow the total weight of the trailer, not its own weight.

Conditions for Issuing a BE License

• Must be at least 18 years old

• Must have obtained a full driving license

• Must have satisfactory vision and hearing

• Must be physically and mentally fit to drive a car

• Must have permanent residence in Iceland

• Must have passed a practical driving test with a certified examiner

Before starting the course, you need to apply for a study permit. This is done by filling out an application for driving education at the top of the page.

Cost

The cost of the course and test depends on the price list of the driving school and the test center at any given time. A driving license costs 8,600 ISK.
