Those that intend to work in their trade in Iceland need to have their education and certification.

The process
If the applicant meets the requirements to work in an authorised trade in Iceland, he/she receives a statement confirming this from Directorate of Education. No further studies are requested in order to work in Iceland in the field in question, however, the person in question must obtain a work permit from the Directorate of Labourif he/she comes from a country outside the EEA area.
The following documents must be submitted with the application to the Directorate of Education:
A copy of the final examination certificate in the original language, stamped by the school that awarded it or another authorised party.
Translation of the diploma into Icelandic or English.
Confirmed information on the applicant's experience of working in the profession he/she intends to work in, Icelandic or English.
Confirmation of the rights of the person in question in their home country in Icelandic or English, if applicable.
Photocopy of passport.
The District Commisioner in Austurland hall then issue a licence attesting to the education and professional experience of the person concerned in Iceland.
Cost
The District Commisioner in Austurland must pay ISK 2,700 for the confirmation, ID number 410914-0770, account 0175-26-10511. Receipt sent to austurland@syslumenn.is
The confirmation of payment is then sent to the person by letter mail or e-mail.
