Young drivers prevention day
4th October 2024
The Icelandic Transport Authority has participated in several prevention days for young drivers this year.
This year, the Icelandic Transport Authority has participated in preventive days for young drivers in several locations around the country. The participation of the Icelandic Transport Authority was in the form of road safety education and assistance with planning where needed.
The days start with traffic education from different parties and end with an accident scenario where students get to watch first responders respond to an accident. It is a good thing that more high schools are starting to make a big effort in traffic education for young people. It is so important to reach them at that age, as many of them are taking their driving test. With this day, we hope to increase the understanding of young people on the importance of making sensible decisions in traffic. Such fantastic days cannot be created without really good cooperation between many different parties. Who stands for the day is different in each place, but first responders and the school play a central role. We thank all those who participated in the days in Akranes, Borgarnes, Reykjanesbær and Grundarfjörður for their wonderful collaboration.
