The Icelandic Transport Authority connects to the digital mailbox
1st July 2024
The Icelandic Transport Authority has connected to the digital mailbox on Ísland.is. This increases efficiency and improves customer service.
In the first phase, the mailbox will be used to remind people about the inspection time of their vehicles. On the first working day of the first month of the vehicle's inspection, the owner of the vehicle (main owner or keeper) will be sent a mail via Ísland.is that the inspection is now due. People also receive mail about two weeks before the negligence fee is due. Responsibility for bringing a vehicle for inspection remains with its owner or keeper.
All individuals with a social security number and all legal entities registered in the Register of Enterprises have access to their own digital mailbox on Ísland.is. The mailbox can be configured to send a notification to its owner when mail is received.
