16th October 2024

HSU in Selfoss // Greta Sverrisdóttir, reception manager

Greta Sverrisdóttir

Greta Sverrisdóttir, receptionist at HSU in Selfoss, was born on April 21, 1966, south by the sea in Keflavík. After attending traditional elementary school, Greta went to Menntaskólinn við Sund and then completed a BSc degree in geography and tourism and a MA degree in leisure management at two universities in the United States.

TRIPLE GRANDMA
We are curious about Greta's family life and life outside of work. "I have three grown children and four grandchildren, with one on the way. Outside of work, I enjoy being with my family and good friends, reading good books, traveling, and getting to know other cultures. The most recent is an unforgettable trip through the Rocky Mountains National Park in the United States, where we drove about 3,000 kilometers in total."

EXPERIENCED MANAGER
"I have spent most of my career in administrative positions in services, mostly with the younger generation. I decided to change and study the health system a few years ago. It also played a role in stopping traveling to Reykjavík constantly for work. But I do not regret this change, because here at HSU there is an extremely positive working spirit, the support of the superiors is great and the projects are very diverse. In addition, I have worked on translations for a long time in side effects."

DIVERSIFIED JOB
There are 10 employees at the HSU reception in Selfoss, who work shifts and take turns answering the phone or handling the reception. The receptionist's job involves a lot of communication with other people, both at the counter and on the phone, as well as communication with the various departments within HSU and the staff there. "A large part of the work also consists of various types of project work of various kinds. We at the reception take care of communication with HSU clients, reception, answering the phone, and guide people with any questions they may have. We are also in the hands of the various departments of HSU with many different projects."

HUGE SCOPE
The scope of HSU's reception team at Selfoss is significant. "We are so fortunate to have a very strong team here at the reception and through us, in one way or another, everything related to arrivals to family doctors, nurses, emergency room, arrivals of foreigners and other travelers, imaging, research, maternity care, gastroscopy, and colonoscopies, comes to specialists and comes to cancer drug administration, drug administration, maternity care, and infant care. Some more than others."
