Exemption drug Theralene recalled

The Icelandic Medicines Agency has decided to recall the exempted drug Theralene. The recall applies to pharmaceutical distributors, pharmacies and patients. It is an oral drops solution and contains 40 mg/ml of almemazine in a 30 ml bottle.

Suspected new bacterial infection in dogs in Iceland

The Food and Veterinary Authority has received a report of a suspected Brucella canis bacterial infection in a dog. Such infection has not been suspected before in Iceland. Brucella canis is the canis, which is a disease that can be transmitted from animals to humans. It should be noted that infection in humans with Brucella canis is rare.

Six individuals have been diagnosed with monkeypox in Iceland. All are men of middle age and all but two of these infections are traced to other countries. No one is seriously ill and no one has ever been hospitalised.
