This year, various projects nationwide for all age groups received grants. When evaluating applications for 2025, particular attention was also given to projects that support minority groups, promote equality in health, and are associated with innovation in prevention and health promotion.

The minister awarded the grants based on the recommendations made by the board of the Public Health Fund, which evaluated applications according to their alignment with the fund's mission. Previously, all applications received had been assessed by the Directorate of Health’s professional councils. The Directorate of Health manages the daily administration and accounting of the Public Health Fund.

The role of the Public Health Fund is defined in the Medical Director of Health and Public Health Act and the Public Health Policy (Icelandic).
