The Ísland.is app is nominated in the category of App of the Year and Ísland.is website and Ísland.is My pages are nominated in the category of Public Web of the Year. The access to both the website and the app has increased dramatically. In 2023, Ísland.is received almost 18 million visits and the number of agencies who have moved their website to Ísland.is is growing steadily. 25 institutions and public projects had moved their official website and content to Ísland.is by the end of 2023, and are expected to be around 50 by the end of the year. In addition, about 140 thousand people have downloaded the Ísland.is app.

The government has set the goal that Iceland will be the leader in public digital services and surveys show that the work is progressing well. Digital services are already making life simpler for people, saving time while improving the service.

The nominations are:

  • Ísland.is app in the category App of the Year

  • Ísland.is in the category Public Web of the Year

  • Ísland.is My Pages in the category of Public Website of the Year

  • Ísland.is in the category of Media and News Agency of the Year

  • P-Card in the category of Social web project

  • Ísland.is My Pages in the category of Digital Solutions

  • Digital P-card in the category of Digital Solution

Fifty projects are nominated this year, with prizes awarded in 10 categories. The number of categories reflects the breadth of projects the Icelandic web and technology industry is involved in.

Last year Digital Iceland was nominated for seven awards at the Icelandic Web Awards and received two.

In addition to the nominations for Digital Iceland projects, the website Our Roads was nominated as the Market Website of the Year, with the website being run by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs’s Transport Fees Project Office.

The jury is also awarding a special honorary prize for the first time. The prize is awarded to projects that the jury has found to have distinguished itself from other projects.

The Icelandic Web Awards will be awarded for the 23rd time on Friday 15th March. The Association of the Web Industry (SVEF) is the professional association that works in IT in Iceland, and organizes the Icelandic Web Awards.
