Digital Disability Certificate available on Ísland.is
16th June 2023
Digital Disability Card is now available in the Ísland.is app and on Ísland.is My Pages.
Today, the possibility of retrieving a digital Disability Card was made available in the Ísland.is app and on Ísland.is My pages.
Þuríður Harpa Sigurðardóttir, chair of the UI, was the first to upload the digital Disability Card to her smartphone.
"I believe that the digital Disability Card will be a comfort to all of us who use smartphones and it is very gratifying that this step has now been taken by TR,"
Thuríður said on this occasion.
"Improving access to services is of great interest to us at TR," said TR CEO Huld Magnúsdóttir, adding that having the digital Disability Card on the phone is always on hand and easy to use. "It is our hope that this innovative feature will be beneficial for our customers".
Good collaboration between TR and Digital Iceland
The disability card has been available on the My Pages of TR so far and a plastic card ordered, but the card can now also be accessed digitally on Ísland.is.
“We at Digital Iceland are in great collaboration with Tryggingastofnun. The digital Disability Card is only one of a number of ongoing projects, but we hope it will simplify the lives of those served by the institution and the work of the staff,
Andri Heiðar Kristinsson, managing director of Digital Iceland.
Discounts for those with disabilities
Those with a disability assessment of 75% are entitled to disability licenses, and the validity period of the cards is the same as the disability assessment. The Disability Card is not equivalent to personal documents but offers various discounts to their holders at a large number of companies and institutions. These parties are listed on TR website.
Around 600 plastic Disability Cards have been issued on average each month since August of last year, so it is clear that this innovation will benefit many.
