Position of Head of the Department of Surveillance at Sea
The Directorate of Fisheries wishes to hire a positive and driven individual for the job of the Head of Department of Surveillance at Sea in Akureyri.
This is a full-time job and it is desirable that the person concerned can start work as soon as possible. The job is under the supervision of the Director of Surveillance Division.
Head of Department of Surveillance at Sea is responsible for operation of certain branches of the Directorate of Fisheries and handles human resources of fishing inspectors in relevant branches, including management of projects and day to day work.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Supervision of day-to-day management of the department in cooperation with Department head of Land Surveillance and Director of Surveillance Division.
Supervision of maritime surveillance
Substitute as Department Head of the Land Surveillance
Planning, goal setting and follow-up
Managing and supporting human resources
Risk analysis for surveillance control and risk-based surveillance control
Development of surveillance control and utilization of technological innovations in control
Communication with government and stakeholders
Qualification requirements
University education that is useful for the job.
Naval education is an advantage
Knowledge and experience of seamanship and fisheries
Seamanship experience on processing vessels is an advantage
Successful experience and/or education in management is an advantage
Initiative, solution-oriented approach and ambition to succeed at work
Positive attitude,interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and with others.
Resilience and ability to work under pressure
Very good knowledge of Icelandic and English and good ability to communicate information in both speech and writing
Very good general computer skills
Clean criminal record
