Open for purchase of mackerel from the 4000-tonne pot
The Directorate of Fisheries has opened applications for additional authorisations in mackerel under Regulation No. 725/2020 on the disposal of 4,000 tons of additional catch authorisations in mackerel.
Up to 50 tonnes may be allocated to each vessel at a time, and the fee for an additional allocation in 2023 is 3.48 kronur/kg.
The allocation of additional authorisations shall take place on a Wednesday in the week following the submission of the application. The last day for which applications can be made each week is Friday. This will be allocated weekly until 15 September or until the pot runs out.
An application is made for an additional allocation for mackerel on a special basis and an application is to be sent to fiskistofa@fiskistofa.is.
Conditions for allocation:
A B class mackerel fishing vessel
Ships with a catch quota of more than 30 tonnes shall have provided 75% of their assigned catch quota.
A vessel is licensed to engage in commercial fishing.
That additional allocation has been paid for.
Additional mackerel harvest rights can not be allocated to vessels again unless the vessel has caught 20 tonnes or more of previously allocated harvest rights.
