Knowledge and usage of Ísland.is increases between years

Almost all Icelanders are familiar with Ísland.is and have used services offered on the website or 97%. This is reflected in a recent online survey executed by Gallup on usage and attitudes towards the core services of Digital Iceland.

Knowledge, usage, and satisfaction measure high in all groups, whether looking at age, residence, education, or income. This indicates that the digital journey of the government is on the right track and in line with the will and expectations of the people of Iceland, with increased knowledge and usage of Ísland.is and the services that are found there.

In addition to the fact that most Icelanders know and use Ísland.is, Ísland.is My Pages are widely used and only about 10% have never used the services that are found there. Half of that group knows the service, although they do not use it. Interestingly, 80% have used the Digital Mailbox, but two years ago the proportion was only 44%.

Summons in the Digital Mailbox

Recently, the first digital indictment was issued for traffic violations, and in the following weeks, the first summons was sent through the Digital Mailbox.

All connected at the end of the year

88 public sector entities have implemented the Digital Mailbox to deliver documents for individuals and businesses. By law, all public sector entities are supposed to be connected to the Digital Mailbox by the end of 2024, so we expect this number to rise quite quickly the next month.

X-Road calls for tenders

The Nordic Institute for Interoperability Solutions is launching a call for tenders for the development of the X-Road data communication solution, with a deadline of 4 December 2024.

All topics from Connecting the State 2024, which took place at the end of September, are now available on the website of Digital Iceland.

59 applications

The deadline for applications for the job of editor of Ísland.is expired on November 14th. A total of 59 applied for the job, and the processing of applications is ongoing. So soon there will be a new addition to the otherwise ambitious team of Digital Iceland. The editor will lead the strategy around all content on Ísland.is, development of the content and accessibility policy of Ísland.is and thus supports the transformation of digital public services.
