The benefits of digitisation in 2024...

... where to start?

It isn't easy to choose one project over another when it comes to the most beneficial in 2024. The year continued to grow with other big events such as an application for the government to buy property in Grindavík, the registration of electric and hybrid cars, the full digitalisation of the death record process, the process of learning how to drive, and the application process for passports. The Ísland.is community more than doubled in size and access to information as well as personal data increased dramatically. About 500 people attended the Connecting the State conference and hundreds more watched through streaming. Then a large number of meetings, workshops, and seminars were held. The core services developed in line with the needs and expectations of users, institutions and so on.

The list is far from emptied but you can review last year's newsletter for more projects, which still does not cover all of them.

Digital Iceland's newsletters

2025 will start with a bang with new initiatives, including the continued implementation and preparation of a new framework agreement between the interdisciplinary teams. The seven priorities that will receive the most weight this year are the introduction of the Ísland.is application system, the institutional website, life events related to employment, health, and education, mapping of the state’s data, and the introduction of a coordinated service system.
