Individuals in Iceland have certain rights and obligations in society.
The rights and obligations of individuals from birth to death are according to Icelandic laws. Rights determine what an individual can demand from society, but obligations determine what requirements society can make of an individual.
Knowing your rights and obligations as citizens in Iceland is important. A list of the main points has been compiled, as it is not common knowledge, and it is good to be able to look it up.
Our lives in Iceland are very diverse, and therefore a variety of rights that a diverse range of people in this country has a right to that are not listed here. The same applies to our obligations.
