Horseman and carpenter
HSU in Selfoss // Björgvin R. Snorrason, Head of Real Estate and Operations at HSU
Björgvin Reynir Snorrason heads the Department of Real Estate and Operations at the Health Institute of South Iceland (HSU) and has an office at Árvegur in Selfoss. Björgvin was born on October 28th, 1970 at Arnardrangi in Landbrot in Vestur-Skaftafellsýsla, but then went to school in Selfoss and graduated as a carpenter from the Polytechnic School of Suðurland.
He is married to Guðbjörg Elín Hjaltadóttir, who is a paramedic at HSU, and they have three children and two grandchildren. Horse riding is his main hobby and he is also a member of the men's choir Karlakór Selfoss.
"After I finished my apprenticeship as a carpenter, I mostly had my own business until I started working at HSU. I manage all construction and general maintenance at HSU's facilities, from Höfn to Þorlákshöfn, including Vestmannaeyjar. There are 10 locations, but there are considerably more departments and units at HSU."
"We at real estate and operations take care of all maintenance and minor repairs at all HSU establishments. We also take care of laundry and reception of products and medicines. The department counts 7 people in Selfoss and 2 in Vestmannaeyjar. On the horizon, it's fun to report that the canteen here in Selfoss is next on the agenda for renovation."
