Digital request for checks on marriage conditions

As of today, matrimonial materials can be applied for examination of conditions of marriage
on the District Commissioners' website. Using the digital application process, an application can be submitted, signed digitally, signed by two representatives, and supporting documentation requested from the National Registry of Iceland. All without visiting the District Commissioners' office.

Those who can use the process must have an ID number and an eID, and their personal data must be available in the database of the National Registry of Iceland. After the procedure, the spouses will receive an examination certificate in their Digital Mailboxes on Ísland.is.

This is another step in the development of digital services for the District Commissioners where agencies are connected digitally in the processing of cases enabling people to apply for services online.
