Digital application for Apostille certification

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs has, in collaboration with the Ministry, established a new service for individuals and companies that require an Apostille certification of documents. It is now possible to apply for and pay for Apostille certification through the portal. This new approach will both simplify the application process and save effort for applicants.

Apostille is a formal confirmation of the legality of documents to be used abroad. Apostille certification includes confirmation that the signature and stamp are demonstrably issued or certified by a competent Icelandic authority. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is responsible for apostille certification of documents issued by the Icelandic government.
