Joint replacement surgery
Icelandic Health Insurance requests offers from privately-held healthcare companies that perform hip and knee replacement surgery in surgical centres that meet the criteria of the Directorate of Health for such procedures.
Icelandic Health Insurers estimate that the total number of operations in 2023 could reach up to 700, of which about 200 are planned for hip replacements. It will be possible to add operations if offers are within the Icelandic Health Insurance costing plan and the budget authorisations allow.
