The District Commissioner of Northwest Iceland handles the collection of daily fines determined by the Data Protection Authority.
Collection Process
When a claim is created, it appears in the debtor's online bank. Collection letters are sent to the individual's inbox on island.is. If the claim is not paid within 30 days after the collection letter has been sent and no agreement has been made regarding the claim, a payment request is delivered by a process server. The following remedies are available to enforce payment:

Payment Installments
Requests for installment payments must be submitted in writing to the email address innheimta@syslumenn.is or by letter to the office of the District Commissioner of Northwest Iceland. The minimum monthly payment for installment agreements is ISK 10,000.
Please note that claims can be paid into bank account 0159-26-267, ID number 660914-0990. The debtor's ID number and name must be included in the bank payment. Payments can also be made by credit card.
Appeal Routes
If the fined party disagrees with the Data Protection Authority’s decision, they may file a lawsuit in court within three months from the time the decision was communicated to them. If the Data Protection Authority’s decision is taken to court, confirmation of this must be sent to the District Commissioner of Northwest Iceland at innheimta@syslumenn.is.
If a lawsuit is filed, daily fines are not to be collected until a judgment is rendered. Daily fines do not start accumulating until a court ruling has been made.
