Application for scientific research or screening using ionizing radiation
A license must be applied for for scientific research or screening where ionizing radiation is used.

The application must include:
a research description, where the purpose and implementation are described.
assessment of radiation exposure due to the conduct of the study, number of participants and the like
a copy of the participants' informed consent. The institute can help with the wording due to the risks involved in participating in the study.
a copy of the permission of the relevant ethics committee. It does not have to be available, but will then be made a condition for the permission.
Processing time
Once all the necessary document are received, the Radiation Safety Authority assesses the radiation exposure of the participants and whether the information and wording in the informed consent is in accordance with this assessment.
Assessment of the risk and usefulness of the study is based on the guidelines of the ICRP (Publication 62, Radiological Protection in Biomedical Research). The Radiation Safety Authority will subsequently seek the opinion of the Medical Directorate of Health on whether permission should be granted or not, and under what conditions.
