Events and meetings streaming and data protection

It is often possible to identify individuals who are seen in a flow and this is then covered by the rules on personal protection. Therefore, it is good to keep a few things in mind:

  • Just stream what is necessary.

  • All parties involved in an event must be informed of the flow.

  • Individuals should be educated about streaming, among other things, by placing clear signs/meanings stating that an event will be streamed and where cameras are being directed.

  • If a meeting is only needed via a stream, this is stated in the information about the meeting.

  • Indicate areas where no photo is taken.

  • If the purpose of a stream is only to show an event, it should not be recorded and stored.

Children are specially protected under the Data Protection Act.

  • Awareness of whether specific personal data that could be classified as sensitive personal data, such as health information or information about religion and beliefs, is being processed.

  • It is necessary to ensure that the technical solutions used are sufficiently safe.

  • It should be kept in mind that attendees may object to appearing in a stream. It is good to prepare instructions in advance on how to register and respond to objections.
