Spawning stop

The Minister of Food, Fisheries and Agriculture sets a regulation regarding the spawning season of various fish species in regards to:

• increase the likelihood of successful spawning of species and hatching

• reduce the fishing effort of spawning grounds

• promote better reproductive health of the populations

All information on the spawning stop can be found the Marine SDI by ticking the closure of spawning grounds under the list of regulations and by clicking on the shaded areas, the information on the periods for which the closure applies will appear.
