The obligation to ensure the security of personal data

One of the most important principles contained in the data protection legislation is the so-called security principle. It relates to the need to ensure the security of personal data. It is reflected in many provisions of the data protection legislation.

Those who process personal data are thus responsible for ensuring the security of personal data. The main obligations are the following:

  • Do not risk being infiltrated by unauthorised parties

  • That they do not harm or lose

  • That those who have good reason, get to the information

  • Security measures should take into account the scope and sensitivity of the data
